On March 26, with about twenty proud family members and friends in attendance, thirteen Rutgers-Camden History majors and one Rutgers-Camden History graduate student were inducted into Phi Alpha Society, the national honors society for students of history. After receiving their certificates from Dr. Andrew Lees, the acting chair of the History Department, the new Phi Alpha Theta members and others heard a stimulating lecture by Dr. Katherine Kerrison. An associate professor of history at Villanova University, she discussed the lives and the thoughts of Thomas Jefferson’s daughters on the basis of archival detective work in many places. Her lecture was cosponsored by the Rutgers-Camden program in Women’s Studies.
