The history department has changed the requirements for the history major to take effect in the academic year 2008-2009 (beginning fall 2008). The change affects distribution requirements and should not cause any difficulty. Please click here for the new requirements. Students who declared themselves to be history majors before the end of the spring semester 2005 may do so according to the requirements in effect between 2003 and 2005. Students who declared themselves to be history majors before the end of the spring semester 2008 may do so according to the requirements in effect between 2005 and 2008. In general, however, the new requirements are more easily filled than these earlier ones.
